Completed Project: Erskine Farm - 30 Acres - 2001

During the last two years, Friends of the Fields effectively doubled the acreage of farmland placed under agricultural conservation easements—from 74 acres in the organization’s first six years, to 151 acres now.

Erskine Farm - 30 Acres - 2001

Just a few months after receiving 501(c)(3) status, Friends of the Fields saved the 30-acre Norm and Marilyn Siebens farm from development. A conservation easement was placed on the title, and then the land was sold as one parcel to farmers John and Heather Erskine. The next four years, Friends of the Fields efforts went toward paying off the $240,000 debt on that transaction.

John and Heather raise beautiful Shire draft horses. They plan to integrate the use of the Shires into cultivation of row crops on the farm, and they also train their “High Bridge Shires” to pull wagons and carriages.

Please join us to preserve Finn Hall Farm. Make a contribution to Friends of the Fields today.

151 total acres of productive farmland protected in perpetuity!
