Friends of the Fields: A Division of
the North Olympic Land Trust
As a division of the North Olympic Land
Trust, Friends of the Fields’ initiatives to preserve farmland
in perpetuity will continue. We function as a new Land Trust
standing committee working with its other committees, the Board
of Directors and the Executive Director. Seven of our former
board of directors are now serving on the Land Trust’s board of
directors.
All of our funds that have been in a designated fund to save
farmland will be in the Land Trust’s restricted Farmland
Preservation Fund. This is a key factor in the merger agreement.
It ensures that the funds that have been donated and raised for
the expressed purpose of saving farmland, and such funds
obtained in the future, will be used solely for protecting
farmland.
Donor and volunteer support remains critical for Friends of the
Fields to successfully fulfill its mission. If you have been a
supporter please continue to do so. If you have not been a
supporter in the past we would welcome any support you can
provide. Future donations you make with checks, that you want to
go to supporting sustainable agriculture and farmland
preservation in Clallam County, should be made out to the North
Olympic Land Trust and include the notation “Farmland
Preservation Fund”.
As we are now part of the North Olympic Land Trust we ask that
you give serious consideration to joining its membership. The
membership monies help fund the operational expenses of the Land
Trust and, therefore, also help cover Friends of the Fields’
operational costs. [See:
