Clallam County Farms -
Washington's Year Round Producers
The farms in the Dungeness Valley—nestled
between the majestic Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de
Fuca—are flourishing. The region’s rich fertile soil, abundant
water supply, and mild climate guarantee the only year-round
growing season in Washington State.
Only two hours from Seattle by ferry, the bounty made possible
by these farms crosses Puget Sound regularly and is sold in
Seattle area farmers’ markets, PCC Natural Markets, Fred Meyer
and other stores in our region.
Residential development is replacing farmland at the rate of
1,000 acres every year. And, once developed, the land is gone
forever.
It’s reassuring to know where our food is grown. Eating local
food supports the economy and the environment, and it’s good for
us. Locally-grown food is fresher and has more nutrients than
imported food.
Friends of the Fields is committed to preserve farms and farming
in Clallam County. We’ve successfully protected 151 acres of
productive farmland, and we’re actively identifying more
farmland to protect every day. We need your help to guarantee
local food for Washington families, for now and into the future.
Your generous contribution to Friends of the Fields will help us
meet our goal to preserve another working farm on Washington’s
fertile North Olympic Peninsula.
Please make a donation now to ensure Washington’s families have
locally grown food available for today, and for years to come.
