The State RCO Matching Grant and Federal Farm and Ranchland
Protection Fund--Unique Opportunities to Save Farmland:
In 2008, Friends of the Fields is applying for more grants from
both Washington State and the federal government to protect a
significant piece of farmland in Agnew at Finn Hall Farm. The
State grant (Recreation and Conservation Office, or RCO)
requires matching funds.
The Federal Farm and Ranchland Protection Agency will consider
our application favorably when we have demonstrated our success
in establishing significant matching funds for the RCO grant.
Please support local family farming and sustainable agriculture
with a contribution to Friends of the Fields to meet these grant
matches. Our portion of the funds needed to buy the development
rights could be as much as $500,000. Your contribution will go a
long ways towards protecting 50 acres of USDA-designated "prime"
local farmland, the beautiful and historic Finn Hall Farm.
