Commitee Members: Tom Harris
Exposed to the need for farmland
preservation in the late 1970's while growing up in New
England, Tom witnessed the farm upon which his
grandfather grew up in Connecticut sold for a housing
development and observed the model of successful family
farms in New Hampshire and Vermont. A teacher for 14
years, Tom currently teaches 3rd through 6th grade at
the Five Acre School in Sequim.
Tom first came to the Olympic Peninsula in 1985 to work
as a seasonal backcountry ranger in Olympic National
Park, a job he continued each summer until 1994. Tom has
a Master's Degree in Agricultural History. In addition
to serving on the board of Friends of the Fields he is
Secretary of the Olympic Youth Soccer Association.
