Board Member: Patty McManus-Huber
Since moving to the Sequim-Dungeness Valley in 1982, Patty has witnessed the rapid disappearance of prime farmland in the Sequim Dungeness Valley, and has been actively involved in preserving the remaining acres. She has performed with Olympic Theater Arts for many years in Sequim, and in 1996 collaborated on a musical entitled "River Gone Run" that raised awareness about protecting farmland and how that affects salmon in the Dungeness River. In 2003-2004, Patty wrote, directed, and performed in another musical, "The Red Stone," about the destruction of farms for the exploitation of riches. Since then, she has worked with Clallam Citizens for Food Security and other organizations and individuals who share her commitment to sustain Clallam County's agricultural lands for future generations. Patty and her husband Nash Huber own Nash's Organic Produce in Dungeness. Nash, who organically grows approximately 150 vegetables on nearly 400 acres, is also well known for his apprentice program that teaches a younger generation of farmers. Patty also serves on the board of the North Olympic Land Trust. |
