Board Member: Karen Kilgore
After many years in the corporate culture of the high tech industry, Karen found Sequim, the 'home of her heart.' Karen has lived and traveled all over the country and parts of the world, but she's never felt so at home as she does here. The beauty of the fields was the immediate attraction, but she soon realized that this beauty is more than just a feast for the eye. It also nourishes the body as well as the soul, and is one of the foundations of the community. “For me, preservation of farmland is about all aspects of daily life, from basic survival of the body to expanding the joy of the spirit through connection with sustaining life and beauty.” Karen joined the Friends of the Fields board because she wants to help ensure that future generations can eat locally-produced, life-giving food that is produced sustainably, and at the same time preserve the beauty of the open spaces, that feeds the soul. |
