Commitee Members: Jim Aldrich
Jim has a PhD in geology from The
University of New Mexico. His 30 plus years of
involvement with various geologic investigations
includes mapping soils in Alaska, Arizona, Nevada, and
New Mexico for both environmental assessments and
neotectonic studies. He and his wife have been
long-time supporters of various nonprofit organizations
that support environmental initiatives including, but
not limited to, the Nature Conservancy, the American
Farmland Trust, the National Wildlife Federation, and
the National Resource Defense Council.
He retired to Clallam County in 2005
and soon became an active volunteer for Friends of the
Fields making house calls and telephoning voters to
request their support for a buyers excise tax that would
provide funds to purchase the development rights of
farmland. His current position as president of the
organization reflects his interest and commitment to
preserving farmland
